This is a controversial advertisement by D&G. In the advertisement, there is a nude female body being shown to attract the attention of the consumers. The advertisers put the name of the brand 'D&G' on the breast of the woman. This action aims at directing consumers' gaze to the woman's breast and promoting the brand name at the same time. Handbra technique is used in the advertisement as the woman tries to hide her breast, one of the most essential parts of her body, through her hands and hair. The woman in the advertisement seems like subordinating to man as she is portraying passive and submissive postures such as touching herself. Moreover, the nude woman is being gazed by consumers and seems to be ready for sex. She is then being regarded as sex object. In addition, in the advertisement, there is no relationship between the nude female body and the products. The advertisers can use alternative ways to present the products. They prefer using a woman without clothes and hide her breast by hands and hair only because they wish to sell their products in terms of 'sex'. Under this circumstances, the woman is then transformed to a product which can sell in the market. To a certain extent, the sexual sell is in some ways exploiting and abusing women. On the contrary, the tilting head of the model shows the confidence of her over the audience. It implies she is the top of the world after using the D&G perfume. In short, the nude model may not suitable for this advertisement as children may also get chances to be one of the audiences.

Why do you think the D&G uses a nude model? Does it want to suggest sexiness with this line of perfume? I am quite confused by the tilting head of the model, it is as though she is contemptuous of her audience!

This is a sexy advertisement. Nowadays, many products make use of sex appeal to attract the vision of the audience. This is the trend. However, I don't think this trend is good. I think if it is a good product, people would buy the product due to the product attribute itself, but not the sexy element that the advertisement introduce.
