This is a controversial advertisement proposed by a government-funded organization which aims to persuade people to drink less alcohol in America.

In this poster, a woman’s legs splayed on a bathroom floor with her underwear around her ankles and a slogan “She didn’t want to do it, but she couldn’t say no” are shown clearly. This represents a drunk woman is raped because she does not have the ability to resist. Also, the last sentence “help your friends stay in control and stay safe” which seems the message implies that friends are responsible for helping prevent sexual assaults.

This advertisement draws a lot of discussions since the text puts the onus of rape prevention on the women as well as the friends of women. The text states that drinking impairs decision-making and end up making bad decisions. It literally suggests that drinkers have to bear the risk of being sexually assaulted because of the bad decisions they make. It actually shifts the blame from the rapists to the drunks as well as their friends. Is it fair enough?

It seems to me that the organization shows the drinkers should have that coming .But the truth is - Rapists should be blamed rather than the drinkers. The proposed message is totally non sense!

This is an excellent choice! I am quite offended by this poster, as you said, the rapist appears to have no responsibility! Drunken women are to be blamed for being raped! This is simply wrong!

a slogan “She didn’t want to do it, but she couldn’t say no” are shown
the poster shows the drinkers should have that coming...you may want to shift the subject as 'the department/organization'
But that needs another long piece of writing to tell...this is perhaps not the best way to close your short comment
